About HNC Advertising The course takes place on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm until 8pm during college term times and will take two years. The first year provides a foundation of six core modules which are common to any of the HNC Graphics courses. The second year is directly focused on advertising. At Totton we divide the instruction for the first year between three lecturers. Jed Gibbs will deliver the 2pm - 4pm session, Helena Pessi-Wilkinson the 4pm to 6pm session and Derek Pike covers 6pm - 8pm. We will give you a short break at the changeovers. The refectory is open at various times for drinks and snacks. At other times you can access vending machines so change as 10p, 20p, 50p and pound coins could be worth its weight in chocolate (no eating or drinking in computer room please!) Each lecturer will present two modules, with the first ending and the second starting about Easter. For example, Jed delivers a module introducing industry standard computer graphics programs such as Photoshop and QuarkXPress until a little after Easter. Thereafter the time slot is dedicated to looking at profession practice - investigating issues including ethics, copyright and environmental impact. I suggest that you bring a ring binder which will take A4 paper punched with 2 holes, lined A4 paper and a pen for notes. You can use the college library, known as the LRC or Learning Resource Centre, both for research with magazines and books and for access to the internet. |
