HNC Advertising Course Schedule
Summer 2001 at Totton College, Southampton

Starting on Wednesday 25th April 2001 in the ESF computer suite, Art and Design Department, Totton College. Each session runs from 2.00pm - 4.00pm.

Wednesday 25th April Week 1
Adobe Illustrator and Introduction to Professional Practice
We will round off the Computers in Art and Design Module with an exercise using Adobe Illustrator 9. This vector paths programme is equivalent to Macromedia Freehand 9 but has a few differences in its range of features and interface, appearing similar to its Adobe sibling, Photoshop. Handouts include Toolbox; two page intro to workspace and menus and task sheets for tyre cover designs.Then we will watch part of a video featuring the photographer behind Benetton's provocative advertising campaigns, and begin our discussions of professional practice, ethics and advertising standards.

Wednesday 2nd May Week 2
Illustrator 9 continues
Continuing with Illustrator 9, Handouts include 3 pages of tips; and task sheets for logos from type (batman). We look at techniques when creating maps (2 handouts). On the Professional Practice module we begin to explore issues of copyright with the Guinness hurling campaign video.
