Introduction to Web design and setting up a Web site using Dreamweaver. Adding images and rollovers. Optimising Jpeg and Gif images in Adobe Photoshop.

Introduction to the use of multimedia software Flash, working through these tutorials on Shape tweening & Motion tweening. Examples of Flash sites and tutorials.

Adobe Imageready animation using tweening on position, opacity and effects. Imageready animation layer by layer, frame by frame.

We are using the most up-to-date version 12.5 from Nemetschek.net

1. 3rd Nov 06: Drawing 2D shapes, adjusting colours, patterns, hatching and images.

2. 10th Nov 06: Set Active Layer Scale to 1:50. 3D drawing walls and extruded shapes, using the Flyover Tool, render styles including Fast Renderworks with Shadows and Shaded Polygons. Importing your own images as Image Props.

3. 17th Nov 06: Using the Resource Browser to find resources such as Residential Furniture in Libraries>Sample Objects>Vectorworks and to add them to the scene. Double-click to edit the colours and render textures of resources, return to main scene using drop-down menu.

4. 24th Nov 06: Adding your own images from the internet, digital camera or scanner to use as render textures.

5. 1st Dec 06: Commence working to brief: design a room of your choice in 2D and 3D.

6. 8th Dec 06: Working with walls: applying different textures to inside and outside of walls, set as left and right depending on clockwise or anti-clockwise. Altering the look of door and window symbols to create arches and clear glazing. Working to brief.

7. 15th Dec 06: Adding dimension information to your 2D plans. Working to brief.

8. 12th Jan 07: Working to brief.

9. 19th Jan 07: Working to brief. Setting views and creating animated walkthroughs.

10. 26th Jan 07: Workshop session 10am - 1pm submission.

ASSIGNMENT 2 (Vectorworks): 50%

Deadline Friday 26th January 2007 during workshop session 10am - 1pm

a) Produce a design for a room of your choice. The project submission will include 2D scale plans with dimensioning detailing the layout of the premises, and the locations of internal fixtures, fittings and furnishings, together with a 3D visualization rendered using Renderworks with suitable materials, textures and colours.

b) Produce a design for a bedroom of dimensions 15 metres by 12 metres. This internal space may be subdivided to include for example a dressing area or ensuite bathroom. The project submission will include 2D scale plans with dimensioning detailing the layout of the premises, and the locations of internal fixtures, fittings and furnishings. The 3D visualization should be rendered using Renderworks with suitable materials, textures and colours.

You are required to submit the Vectorworks files in pdf format on a CD or USB keydrive.

You are reminded that in addition to the workshop sessions you are required to undertake research and development work (worth 40% of the mark). Submit all research & development work together with a 200 word evaluation of the project (process and outcome)

Photoshop layers explored with the Dress Up exercises featuring Liz & Elaine
(right-click and save zipped files to your hard disk).

Saving and optimising images for use on Web sites and for e-mail. Cafetiere project support.

30th November/7th December 2006
Shoes project research and presentation in Photoshop.

Continuing with shoes project research and presentation. Creative display text - the Gangsta diamonds Bling exercise.
